Rancho Footies Animal Sanctuary, Inc. was named in honor of our beloved best friend, Footies. Although, Rancho Footies wasn't officially established until 2002, our first rescue occurred while we were traveling by sailboat throughout the Caribbean in 1999. Daphne, a Puerto Rican stray, followed us home and charmed us into keeping her. After several months of treatment for mange and good nourishment, she was soon running and jumping around and playing on the beach, with out a care in the world and her past life forgotten. At this time, we realized that we wanted to help more dogs (and other animals) have a chance at a life full of love. We were not able to
continue fulfilling this dream until 2002 when
Footies 1991-2001 we moved onto our 40 acre parcel. It did not take
us long to expand our family, as we came across
many stray, unwanted, and abused animals just
during the course of our everyday lives. Since
most of the animals hadn't experienced a life
where they could feel secure and loved, we made it
our mission to provide a permanent home for any
animal that we accepted into our family. Since we
are a small organization, this limits us as to how
many animals we are able to adopt, but we feel
that the quality of life of each of our family
members is of utmost importance. We continue
to search for new ways to fund our dream and
expand our family and ranch.

100% of all profits and donations are used for the
animals, as we are strictly volunteer. In
addition to animals, we have also adopted a section
of Arizona highway to pick up trash in order to help
keep our environment beautiful. Our ranch is
also "green." For instance, we have no conventional
electrical service, most of our power is generated
through wind or solar. Our home is constructed
of straw bale and adobe. Our garden provides
many organic treats for both us and the animals.
(We discovered that even though turnips are not on
our favorite vegetable list, the dogs love them!) We
try our best to live in harmony with nature, honor
our fellow Earthlings, preserve our delicate planet.
